It was good to see all the old familiar characters from Tuna, "the third smallest town in Texas".<br /><br />The play was short on plot, but the jokes came fast and furious. Joe Sears and Jaston Williams have not lost their touch with all of the various residents they portray. I guess my favorite two characters are Aunt Pearl and Vera Carp (below), but close runners up are Inita Goodwin and Helen Bedd, the cook and waitress from the Tuna Tastee Kreme.<br /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 268px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5359455413165276258" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SmCcTXtCvGI/AAAAAAAAAVM/IMrmOOhckCA/s400/tuna+small.jpg" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288597986397037091.post-57780097995271207112009-07-15T12:51:00.002-05:002009-07-15T12:54:46.474-05:00from love....... to indifference<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/Sl4XwYaqD_I/AAAAAAAAAU0/1EqxXH1EvNo/s1600-h/6a00d8341c681b53ef011168a8bb6e970c-500wi.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358746726572888050" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/Sl4XwYaqD_I/AAAAAAAAAU0/1EqxXH1EvNo/s400/6a00d8341c681b53ef011168a8bb6e970c-500wi.jpg" /></a><br /><div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288597986397037091.post-90986714568344486312009-07-10T00:37:00.011-05:002009-07-10T13:12:42.927-05:00Calling Dr. Peay<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SlbT2JexTEI/AAAAAAAAAUs/f-ZUOEFpd28/s1600-h/Eric+07-09-09.jpg"></a><p align="center"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SlbT2JexTEI/AAAAAAAAAUs/f-ZUOEFpd28/s1600-h/Eric+07-09-09.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 228px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356701734015159362" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SlbT2JexTEI/AAAAAAAAAUs/f-ZUOEFpd28/s320/Eric+07-09-09.jpg" /></a></p><br />Another <a href="http://thetjtimes.blogspot.com/2007/07/twist-and-crack.html">update from two years ago</a>: I am still getting regular chiropractic adjustments at <a href="http://www.corehealthwellness.com/">CoreHealth Wellness Center.</a><br /><br />I just couldn't do without seeing Eric and Michele! The hotsauce is very flavorful without being too hot. I could just drink it! The enchiladas, etc. are just the right mix of grease and salt to make it all so satisfying (but not greasy). If you're feeling very decadent, get the lemon icebox pie. Incredibly tart + sweet. With the Wednesday night Enchilada Plate Special for $4.99, you can eat there SO CHEAP. It's all so comfortably predictable. I bet it's been the same since they opened in 1918. Leyendecker (1874-1951) – arguably the nation's most popular and successful commercial artist of the first four decades of the 20th century.<br />Leyendecker's work both reflected and helped mold many of the visual aspects of the era's culture in America. including the mainstream image of Santa Claus as a jolly fat man in a red fur-trimmed coat , the New Year's Baby and the Arrow Collar Man, modeling him on his partner of 50 years, Charles Beach. The tradition of giving flowers as a gift on Mother's Day was started by Leyendecker's May 30, 1914 <em>Saturday Evening Post</em> cover depicting a young bellhop carrying hyacinths.<br /><div><div><div><br /><div>As the <em>Saturday Evening Post’s</em> most important cover artist of his day, J. She can be happily purring one second, and then turn around and bite you the next. I've never known a cat like that. The receptionist at the vet said that that psycho personality is common in tortoiseshell cats. After six weeks, she is barely tolerating Max. He can get close to her if he's slow about it, but it's usually growling, hissing, and swatting on her part. Max doesn't care a bit. It's been funny to watch a little kitten chase the big fatmomma cat around the house. Maybe the household will calm down with time and Max losing his kitten energy.</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288597986397037091.post-71612391210710978382009-07-03T00:23:00.005-05:002009-07-03T00:38:56.025-05:00100°<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/Sk2YNBKtDfI/AAAAAAAAARs/BJ91CQlDCeE/s1600-h/bbigyellowcup.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 218px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5354102881432440306" border="0" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/Sk2YNBKtDfI/AAAAAAAAARs/BJ91CQlDCeE/s320/bbigyellowcup.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;color:#ff0000;">It's so hot</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;color:#ff0000;">that I need</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;color:#ff0000;">a BIG cup</span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:180%;color:#ff0000;">of ICED TEA!</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:180%;color:#ff0000;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;color:#000000;"><em>unsweetened</em></span><br /><em><span style="font-family:Arial;"></span></em><br /><span style="font-family:lucida grande;font-size:130%;color:#6633ff;">lots of ice</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288597986397037091.post-55201342563198183532009-07-02T00:01:00.004-05:002009-07-02T00:13:40.097-05:00Extensive Grey Gardens photo site<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SkxAMlIv5ZI/AAAAAAAAARc/HJyB8qpEdio/s1600-h/GG.jpg"><span style="font-size:130%;"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 177px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353724641908090258" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SkxAMlIv5ZI/AAAAAAAAARc/HJyB8qpEdio/s200/GG.jpg" /></span></a><span style="font-size:130%;"> <span style="font-family:arial;">I have posted this </span></span><a href="http://cotedetexas.blogspot.com/2009/05/pictorial-history-of-grey-gardens.html"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">interior design site, "Cote de Texas"</span></a><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;"> elsewhere, but it is worth listing here also because it has a VERY extensive collection of photos about the house, Grey Gardens which is, of course, the home of the famed mother and daughter Edith and Edie Beale from the 1975 documentary </span><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073076/plotsummary"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:130%;">"Grey Gardens"</span></a><span style="font-size:130%;">.</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288597986397037091.post-18433323987396305362009-07-01T23:10:00.004-05:002009-07-01T23:25:30.087-05:00Dressing, Y'all<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SkwzWP-lSmI/AAAAAAAAARU/hDmRLHjo2j0/s1600-h/pauladeen01.jpg"><span style="font-family:arial;"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 189px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353710514375838306" border="0" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/SkwzWP-lSmI/AAAAAAAAARU/hDmRLHjo2j0/s200/pauladeen01.jpg" /></span></a><span style="font-family:arial;"> I made Paula Deen's <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/corny-coleslaw-recipe/index.html">"Corny Coleslaw"</a> from her show "Paula's Best Dishes". I hear so much "Bah, Humbug!" about the holidays. You might as well get over it.... It comes every year without fail. You can't control the negatives, so just focus on what you like about it all. Just ignore the commercialism and make the holiday your own.</span><br /><div><div><span style="font-family:arial;"></span></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137407298211013346" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/R0u8t_Rd4uI/AAAAAAAAAKA/r8HmO7WOBwI/s320/santa.jpg" border="0" /><span style="font-family:arial;">I did my annual holiday mall walk. I like the hustle and bustle, the decorations and the music (if it's not too early). I went to The Galleria, Valley View Mall, and NorthPark. NorthPark remains my favorite. The Santa and reindeer (all made from nuts!) have been there each holiday season as long as I can remember. NorthPark also has art throughout the mall all year.</span></div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/R0u9nvRd4vI/AAAAAAAAAKI/Zw0F6PdJ_OI/s1600-h/sculpture.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5137408290348458738" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/R0u9nvRd4vI/AAAAAAAAAKI/Zw0F6PdJ_OI/s200/sculpture.jpg" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;">Dallas has been so lucky to have someone like Ray Nasher to keep NorthPark so simple and classic and showcase his art collection in the mall. When I first discovered it, it was in the center of the web, but when I went outside to take it's picture, it saw me and moved up to the top of the web (the spot in front of the green tree). The web is so high up, you can walk under it, so the whole thing may stay put awhile. Is this blog doomed? </span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;">This last week has been a mix of Charlotte distraction, being sick and energy-less, trapped by a commitment to <a href="http://www.pbs.org/thewar/">"The War", </a>and trying to get the framing pricing software tweaked (I was messing with it 'til 1:00 last night).</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;">Charlotte energy has made a huge difference at home. Playing on the bed in the middle of the night has gotten her shut out of the room, but that's is less and less each night. She slept all night on a human schedule last night, so she is learning our rhythms.... and she's more comfortable and relaxed with us and all household things.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;">I watched the 16 hour PBS series <a href="http://www.pbs.org/thewar/">"The War"</a> which was very good, but I almost felt trapped having to stop all life for 2 to 2 1/2 hours each night to watch it. With other shows starting the fall season, there has been lots of TV time. Some shows are still sitting in the recorder waiting to be watched. Our cable company updated their channels, so most everything got moved around and new stuff was added. I don't know what program is on what channel anymore! I haven't had time to update the TV with channel labels and removing all the weird stations that we won't watch.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;">The framing software will be great - not perfect - but it is so intricate and complex that it will require tweaking in many areas because it can do so much stuff. All that is hard and time-consuming since it is technical in a computer-ease kind of way and you just gotta sit and study the manual to figure it out. I'm trying to take advantage of working its way for the updated and automatic pricing while making it work our way for ease and convenience. But all of the framing projects in the shop are now entered, and we are starting to actively use the system.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;">I have been sick - one of those lingering things that takes forever to go away. It is SLOWLY getting better. I might actually feel normal someday.</span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1288597986397037091.post-44680876788328283712007-09-28T19:42:00.000-05:002007-09-28T20:25:47.134-05:00Charlotte<div align="center"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/Rv2fpjkneFI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/7rh1b0Ptr8A/s1600-h/Charlotte.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5115420288035027026" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_Y7-pg13NPGo/Rv2fpjkneFI/AAAAAAAAAJQ/7rh1b0Ptr8A/s400/Charlotte.jpg" border="0" /></a><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:78%;color:#3366ff;"><em>(click photo to enlarge - and marvel at my beauty!)</em></span></div><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:85%;">I've been waiting to get to the vet before another cat blog entry, and that FINALLY happened today. We have a little girl as I thought at the beginning - and her name is Charlotte. She is now eight weeks old and has ringworm. So, she'll be seeing </span><a href="http://www.holtvet.com/staff/index.html"><span style="font-size:85%;">Dr. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Bratton</span></span></a><span style="font-size:85%;"> every week to get a sulphur shampoo and pills every other week for about a month or so. Otherwise she is healthy.</span></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;font-size:85%;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:85%;">Charlotte still hides some, but gets less shy every day. She found a spot to hide in that took us a week to discover. We looked in every conceivable place that a cat could get and could never find her. She would stay hidden all day until late evening. The sleeper sofa in the front bedroom has a 2 inch space from the floor and I would even open it an look inside - and still no Charlotte. After a few days, I finally got desperate enough to open the sleeper sofa again, climb inside to lie on the floor and look up to discover that the back is hollow and has a little ledge that she was sitting on - after she squeezed under the 2 inch space! So, I discourage her hiding so she will be out with us when we are home - and it has sped up her comfort level. She loves the bed and likes to cuddle there and is calmest there. She likes to sleep ON me and sometimes in the middle of the night will run up and down ON TOP of me when she has a night frenzy - and attacks the covers. That is getting better since I push her away or shut her out of the bedroom if it gets too bad.
